New Ownership at Granby Bait and Tackle
Brady Wettlaufer
Brady Wettlaufer recently acquired Granby Bait and Tackle from Mike Ivy, who founded the business 17 years ago out of his passion for fishing and his desire to create a local shop that served the community’s needs. As Mike approached retirement, he met Brady, a seasoned angler with 28 years of experience, including a decade spent professionally in the fishing industry. Now, with Brady at the helm, Granby Bait and Tackle enters a new chapter, combining Mike’s legacy with Brady’s expertise.
Brady, known as "Hooky the Hooksetter," built a legacy in Colorado with Steamboat Fishing Adventures (SFA), a renowned guide service he founded years ago. He saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the market, offering unique and thrilling fishing experiences that included custom-built ice houses equipped with 65-inch TVs and underwater cameras, as well as spearfishing, night fishing, and large group excursions on luxurious pontoons. SFA quickly became a success, drawing clients from across the country and guiding thousands of trips. Brady also played a key role in community engagement, hosting major ice fishing tournaments and founding the youth 4H fishing club.
With his acquisition of Granby Bait and Tackle, Brady now turns his focus to the shop for lake trout fishing tackle, offering a more personalized approach to fishing trips. The shop continues to provide open water guided trips, exclusive ice fishing and night fishing adventures, and private fly-fishing excursions on some of Colorado's most sought-after waters.
