Fly fishing is absolutely awesome right now in the valley! We have seen a drop in temperatures making the terrestrial bite slow down and the midge bite take off! Running an indicator with 2 bugs is proving to be very effective! Our guides are seeing awesome action on size 18-20 zebra midge (black and red) and yellow Perdigon patterns. Yellow Spanish tungsten nymphs along with rainbow warriors and sinking tricos will guarantee some early morning action! Mornings are full of action with the evenings slowing down a touch however the last hour of light can be lit up with some stripping action! Pull out the streamers and strip some thin mints or the classic black wolly bugger for some evening brownie eats! Pro tip…never too early to throw the eggs and bacon. Browns are beginning to spawn and a San Juan worm trailed by an egg pattern is always a great way to feed some fish! Call the shop for any other info you might need or stop on in and get a to-the-day update on your hottest flies! Fish on! s.

Running an indicator with 2 bugs, early mornings are best
Water temperatures are dropping quick and the lake is very active with bites from all species. Get ready for the lake trout bite to be on fire for a few weeks when the spawn starts. Fish are stacking up along the edges in 35-55 feet of water and will keep moving shallow as the spawn starts.
Various tube jigs with Elevation tinsel jigs are working well with strips of sucker meat. Tap the bottom to entice the bite and stir up the mud to mimic bait fish.
Bite is best early morning and fluctuates throughout the day. Try aggressive techniques lifting your tube jig up high and letting it drop, or slow movements thumping it off the bottom till they come in. Don't be afraid to change from larger baits to small baits throughout the day as the bite changes. Use bright colored, glow, or white color plastics tipped with sucker meat, and or salmon egg.
The key is to move often, go where there is less pressure, and find the path the fish feed on along ridges. Visit the dynamic maps section to locate boat ramps and access points to get to the lake safely. Some of the more productive areas can also be found on the map.

You can also find some rainbow and brown trout activity using grubs or spoons jigging in the middle to top areas of the water column.
